Signs of Life: It's Electric!

Everything is energy. Me, you, our furry friends, the plants outside my window, the chair I sit on to write this, and of course our electronic devices. In honor of Father's Day, the first without my dad, I'm sharing a medley of messages spirit has sent over the past six months.
Phoning Home
Shortly after my dad passed away, and we returned home from the first of two pilgrimages to North Carolina in a month, I began having issues with my phone. Every morning I ride our stationary bike for 15 minutes, using the stopwatch on my phone as a timer. On January 13, 2026, I set the timer only to find it at zero when I finished riding, as though I had forgotten to push start. I didn't. Sometime later, I looked at my phone and saw the stopwatch running again. I stopped it at 23:06:36, reset to zero, and closed the app. Next time I went to use my phone, the timer was up again, at the same 23 number. My husband Derek is constantly reminding me to update my phone. And while I typically procrastinate on this task, my phone was up to date. I started to wonder if this might be my dad communicating with me. I made note of the number, but as of this writing I still don't know what it might mean.
Turn on Your Heartlight
We have a night light in our meditation room, almost always left in the ON position. The room doesn't get much natural light, and our cat Houdini will sometimes snooze on the floor, all black when he doesn't show his belly. We've had some close calls almost stepping on him, hence the night light. Normally, when the light goes dark, I toggle the on-off switch numerous times, just to make certain the bulb is officially burned out. After my dad's passing, I had the opposite experience. The light would not shut off! I would toggle the on-off switch back and forth, back and forth, and the light remained on. Dad?

Taking the Lead
On February 24, 2026, our nephew Brennan visited my mom during his winter break. Me, Derek, my mom, and Brennan were playing a game called Hitster. The goal is to build a musical timeline by guessing the year the song was released based on a 20-second snippet. A Spotify account and a smart phone are required to play, and we were using mine. The Rednex version of "Cotton Eye Joe" came up in rotation. This is a song my dad danced to at our wedding. He didn't just dance; he took over the dance floor. It was incredible! I've associated that song with him ever since. I think this was his way of joining our game, which he would have found enjoyable.
On May 1, 2026, I visited a psychic medium. It was not my first psychic experience, but my first with this particular medium. I was hoping to hear from my dad, even requested from spirit that he be the one to come through. But you can't stop Nana, and my paternal grandparents were the first to make an appearance. During the session, the medium told me that my grandparents are always available if I want their guidance. All I have to do is give them parameters. For example, ask them to show me a bird for yes or a squirrel for no.
Then the medium tells me, "And your dad says he'll just keep messing with your electronic devices."
Wow. Okay. It makes sense. My dad spent his career as a software engineer for numerous telecommunications companies. Of course he's going to communicate through electronic devices. I suspected that might be the case, but it was nice to have the validation. Mess away, Dad. I'm listening. And happy Father's Day.
